Gemma is driven to maximise the opportunities provided by technology, innovation, and globalisation. She is passionate about providing pragmatic legal advice that is aligned with broader organisational values, to help clients achieve their commercial goals. Having begun her legal career in a large local government authority, Gemma understands how legal obligations intersect with operational realities and how decisions can play out in complex organisations.
Gemma has a particular interest in start-ups, commercialisation, and supporting entrepreneurs in bringing their ideas to the world. She has previous experience leading the University of Auckland’s innovation and entrepreneurship programme and serving on an investment committee.
Gemma is a member of The Law Association’s NextGen Lawyers committee, where she promotes the interests of and advocates for junior lawyers. She is also in the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Leadership Network.
